This organisation receives support from the Victims Support Programme for Groups Working with Victims and Survivors, to deliver some or all of the services that it provides.

Its views do not necessarily reflect those of the Victims and Survivors Service.

Families Moving On was established in 2009 for the benefits of Omagh and its environs of Co. Tyrone.

The Group is an interdenominational victims and survivors group set up to support those affected through terrorist related incidents. Members may suffer as a result of bereavement, injury or through traumatisation by witnessing any incidents in the area. Families Moving On feel they have a unique group in terms of membership and a universal desire to move on leaving the past behind. Families Moving On provide support, encouragement and awareness of the needs and experience of victims.

Provision of Befriending Service for Members is available which provides support and assistance to vulnerable people who find living in their community difficult. Families Moving On provides Respite, Residential care and assists in providing training, Seminars and lectures, Coffee Mornings, Complementary Therapies, Social Support and Transgenerational activities for young people.
Families Moving On is a member of the Network of Associations of Victims of Terrorism and recognises the responsibilities that go with trust in protecting the confidentiality with individual rights.

Families Moving On have commissioned a distinctive piece of Research which set to explore the human effects of the Omagh Bomb. This research will increase understanding and awareness of the needs of Victims. The Document “A Unique View of a Shared Experience” will be published and copies will be available to Members and other Groups in the locality.

Families Moving On is comprised of 2 Staff Members, a Befriending Coordinator and a voluntary Board of Committee Members.

Our aim is to meet the needs of victims who seek and require support. We can help victims on their Road to recovery through the provision of activities best suited to them. We will assess the needs of victims and talk to them about each of the activities we have to offer.

We offer a wide range of services such as Complementary Therapies which Members can avail of and a Befriending service that provides companionship, Social Support to reduce social isolation and Transgenerational Activities for young people.

Everyone has an individual story from their experience and all information is strictly confidential.
